Students, clergy rally against school closures, funding cuts

It’s a big day for Philadelphia’s public schools, and proponents continue to rally for funding. Two rallies today will bookend City Council’s public comment session on the School District’s budget request.

At 12:30, local clergy members will be on the west side of Dilworth plaza to discuss the need for state and local funding for the District. Then at 3:30, Youth United for Change members will hold a “Rally to Save Accelerated Schools” in light of the District’s plan to close its 13 accelerated facilities.

Be sure to follow public comment in the meantime. You can follow #phillyeducation on Twitter beginning at 1 p.m.
