Here’s a look at what’s going on around town for families this weekend.

    Watch Frozen outdoors on Thursday

Start the weekend a little bit early on Thursday with “Frozen.” Since the outdoor movies have ended for the year in Mt. Airy, the cool kids (pun intended) are heading down to Penn’s Landing to watch “Frozen” outdoors and enjoy themed activities from their favorite princess duo. Movie starts at dusk on Thursday, Aug. 21.

It’s been a long week, so why not partake in shopping, spirits and child’s play? No babysitter? No problem. This Friday, bring the kiddies to NEST for a kid-friendly happy hour. BYOB and enjoy the Stella & Dot trunk show (boutique-style jewelry and accessories). Friday Aug.22 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Enjoy Germantown Avenue story time in Mt. Airy on Saturday

Take the tots and stop by Mt. Airy’s new Read & Eat Cafe to hear children’s author Marcus Redmond read his book “Mother Tree.” Story (and snack) time starts on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m.

Gospel on the water this Saturday

Enjoy an evening of moving gospel and praise music for free on the waterfront. The Sounds of Inspiration concert include artists Smokie Norful, Kierra Sheard, VaShawn Mitchell, Micah Stampley, Brian Courtney Wilson and more. Head to the Riverstage at the Great Plaza on Saturday Aug. 23 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
