State House Dems pick leaders

After picking up two seats in the November 2nd election, State House Democrats will meet tonight in Dover to pick their leaders.

Democratic House members will select their speaker, majority leader and whip in tonight’s meeting at 5 PM in Legislative Hall.  The speaker must then be elected by all the members of the House, including Republicans, but because the Democrats hold a 26 to 15 majority, that full House election will simply be a formality.  The General Assembly will start its new session on January 11.
