Today is St. Patrick’s Day, and while that may mean kegs and eggs to some, it’s also a chance to celebrate the Irish culture in a family-friendly way.

Whether it’s listening to bagpipes down the block, watching a school’s Irish dance performance or simply wearing your best shade of green, Northwest Philadelphia has plenty of options for you. Check out what’s going on in your neighborhood, today and over the weekend:

 

St. Patty’s Tour and Toast at Laurel Hill

When: 5:30 p.m.

Where: Laurel Hill Cemetery – 3822 Ridge Ave. in East Falls

What: Laurel Hill celebrates Saint Patrick’s Day with “In heaven there is no beer… that is why we drink here: St. Patrick’s Day Tour and Toast” which explores and honors the heritage and accomplishments of some of the cemetery’s Irish souls. Where: Journey’s Way – 403 Rector St. in Roxborough

When: Saturday Mar. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Where: Church of St. Alban 6769 Ridge Ave. in Roxborough

What: Ham, cabbage, fun and fellowship at the annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner. The event is free but donations are gladly accepted.

Where: Avenue of the Arts

What: Head into Center City tonight to see an emerald hue cast on a dozen historic buildings along the Avenue of the Arts. The Center City District has created year-round special lighting for these buildings, but today, they will shine like smiling Irish eyes.
