St. Basil Academy hosts open house, welcomes students from closing high schools

St. Hubert’s has raised more than $500,000 since announcing plans to fight to stay open, but for parents and students facing the reality that the Torresdale Avenue doors might shut for good in June, St. Basil Academy is hosting an open house.

The private, all-girls school in Jenkintown will host the event tomorrow night for potential transfer students from the  four archdiocesan high schools the Blue Ribbon Commission has recommended for closure.

“Saint Basil Academy opens its doors to parents and young women who want to continue their pursuit of academic excellence in an all-girl, Catholic academy,” a release from the high school reads. “SBA is offering a tuition incentive to qualified transfer students from closing high schools.”

The open house is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and applications, transcripts and other paperwork are due Feb. 10. Inquiries should be directed to Maureen Walsh at mwalsh AT stbasilacademy.org.
