Specter’s finale

In Washington, outgoing Senator Arlen Specter will give his final Senate floor speech today around 10:30 a.m.

He’s expected to talk about his career as Pennsylvania’s longest-serving senator and a prominent centrist.

He’s now 80, has overcome a brain tumor, cardiac arrest following bypass surgery and two bouts with Hodgkin’s disease.

Check the Philadelphia Inquirer for an overview of his career, and some archival photos.
