Southbound express lane opens Monday on I-81
A new express lane is set to open Monday along the Interstate 81 George Wade Memorial Bridge linking Dauphin and Cumberland counties.
According to The Patriot-News, the new southbound lane is part of a long-term traffic pattern to allow contractors to continue rehabilitation work on the bridge.
The project began in 2009.
Drivers will be able to use the express lane Monday, weather permitting, on the northbound side of the bridge. Once opened, drivers heading south will be able to access the new lane by entering a crossover north of the bridge.
The construction is part of a $36 million Pennsylvania Department of Transportation project scheduled to be completed in May 2012.
