South Philly parents appeal to Vatican to keep two Catholic schools open

    Parents’ rallies, appeals and pleas weren’t enough to convince the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to keep South Philadelphia’s Sacred Heart of Jesus and Our Lady of Mount Carmel schools open, but the families aren’t taking no for an answer.
    They’re working with Boston-based Canon Law consultant Peter Borre. The Daily News reports Borre will go to the Vatican Sunday to have the case heard by the church’s hierarchy. He was successful in a similar appeal with 13 Cleveland parishes.
