Some suggestions for shopping locally this Mother’s Day

Bargain Thrift Center.  I’d like to get skirts, a couple shirts, old school vintage jewelry (maybe a brooch), and some kind of dope tea set.

Ten Thousand Villages– because it supports fair trade and other moms, families and their craft. 

Bumble Beads– simply because they have such an amazing selection of beads, crystals etc… to create with. I love the idea that kids or partners can make a gift based on their taste and what they know about their moms.

Kim’s wish list includes:

Philly Electric Wheels or PHEW–  lots of cool stuff for a mom on the go. Electric bikes, folding bikes, bikes seats, cool durable bags, bike (and stroller!) tuneups, helmets,  car racks…everything in his place is made to to be efficient and sustainable.  Sounds like a GAP mom to me!

Bacio– a night out for dinner is such a nice treat. Off the beaten Mt.Airy path, this  cute BYOB has an Italian menu with both Vegan and Gluten free options. 

 

Jen’s picks hail from:

NW Philly’s own ‘Antique Row’ in Germantown–  on the 5200-5300 blocks of Germantown Avenue. Browse around for a rare find. Enjoy the antique shops with goodies you won’t see in Pottery Barn.

Gaffney’s Fabrics– in the 5400 block of Germantown has a wide range of fabrics for the crafty Mama… with fabulously low prices.

 

Whatever you decide, think about keeping it local… there are so many wonderful spots along the Avenue to find something truly unique this Mother’s Day.
