Social media movement pushes for bald Barbie doll

Barbie has done a lot of things in her life, but she’s never been bald.

Not for fashion, not in protest and not because of cancer.
But two women who’ve been affected by cancer want to see Mattel Inc. create a bald Barbie. With more than 37,000 fans as of Thursday morning, the “Beautiful and Bald Barbie! Let’s see if we can get it made” Facebook group is promoting the need for such a doll for girls with cancer and other hair loss-inducing conditions, and for those who need help understanding a relative’s hair loss.

The doll would come with accessories like scarves and hats, and the group wants Mattel to consider donating proceeds to childhood cancer research and treatment.
