Small step forward in plans for St. Joe’s sports fields

Surely a township meeting that ends at 1 a.m. must be wildly successful. Unless that meeting is in Lower Merion and it’s about long-discussed plans for St. Joe’s University sports fields. Then it’s just another late night talking zoning.

The third meeting in recent weeks sought to move forward in the dispute between the university and neighbors living near the Maguire Campus about zoning and community relations.

A meeting of the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners and Planning Committee was delayed three hours, so by 1 .am., all that had passed was a basic revision of zoning conditions. Several other issues — including new ones — remain, as the Main Line Times reports.

The topic is not first on the agenda for the March 23 meeting. Two recent meetings ran four hour each. Here’s hoping against a hat-trick.
