Sleeping New Jersey girl hit by stray bullet

Authorities say a sleeping New Jersey teenager was struck by a bullet when gunfire broke out outside her home and a bullet pierced her bedroom wall.

The 13-year-old girl from the Sicklerville section of Winslow Township was struck in the buttocks early Monday. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening. She was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Philadelphia’s WPVI-TV reports that three other girls were also sleeping in the room when several shots were fired.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s office says a 56-year-old woman in a home across the street was hit by flying glass after a bullet shattered her window. She was treated by medical personnel at the scene but declined further medical attention.
