Sixers lose season opener by four points

On the day after Christmas, the Philadelphia 76ers took the court in Portland, fresh off a long off-season only to finish the night with a season-opening loss by just four points.

The Sixers opened the season last night on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers, losing 107-103.

Sixers coach Doug Collins told the Associated Press he felt the team’s “competitive will” was strong but it was the execution that has to get better.

The team opened last season 3-13, finishing 41-41 but still managed to earn a spot in the playoffs, only to lose to the Miami Heat in the first round.
