Simply the best: Phillies make it look easy with fifth straight East title
Phillies fans knew it was coming for what felt like weeks and last night the team made it official, clinching its fifth straight East title with a 9-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in front of the home crowd.
Pitcher Roy Oswalt threw seven shutout innings to give the Phillies the dominant win.
The Phillies then celebrated in fashion as players put on shirts and hats that proclaimed them division champs.
Last night’s win is just the first step, however, for a team where in many cases nothing less than a World Series championship would be considered a success.
