The decision by Governor Chris Christie to fly the state’s flags at half-staff Saturday in honor of Whitney Houston has received much criticism.

Governor Christie ordered flags be flown at half-staff at state government buildings Saturday, the day services are scheduled for Houston at a Newark church.

The Associated Press reports the Governor has received emails and other messages criticizing his decision.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, where Houston sang as a child.

The Associated Press is scheduled to broadcast the funeral online.
