Shot fired in Delaware road rage incident

A Wilmington man was charged with aggravated menacing among other charges stemming from a road rage incident in New Castle County.

Augustine Flores-Perez, 28, was accused of shooting at a 26-year-old man and his 6-year-old passenger in the area of Old Capitol Trail and St. James Church Rd on Wednesday evening. 

The victim told police he exchanged words with Flores-Perez, whose car was stopped in the middle of the road. At that point, he said, the suspect pointed a handgun out the window and fired one shot in his direction. 

Officers located Flores-Perez an intersection away. He was arrested and later identified after initially providing officers with a false name. A handgun was found under the passenger seat in the vehicle.

Flores-Perez was charged with two counts of reckless endangering in the first degree, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, criminal impersonation and aggravated menacing.

He was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of posting $31,000 cash bail. He was also issued a no contact order with the victims.
