Shore town bans high-powered laser pointers

It doesn’t seem that long ago that laser pointers were the it thing on boardwalks. Now one Shore town is banning them.

Ocean City Council decided yesterday to ban high-powered laser pointers in the New Jersey town. The ordinance prohibits selling or possessing them.

The ban comes after a man admitted to shining a laser at a Coast Guard helicopter flying over the Atlantic Ocean last month, and after the FAA said 14 planes and copters were flashed near Atlantic City Airport last year alone.
