Shore boutique testing Chestnut Hill’s retail market with pop-up store

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” This quote from Coco Chanel is a favorite of Lauren and Robin Anzalone, sisters and co-owners of Closet Boutique in Chestnut Hill.

This new pop-up is visiting the area from October through December 31.

The original store is located in Avalon, NJ and after being recruited by Eileen Riley of the Chestnut Hill Business Association, the owners decided to open up at 8428 Germantown Ave.

“We definitely love this area, “said Lauren Anzalone, “we would love to expand and this is a great way to test the market.”

The store is chock-full of unique and distinctly boutique finds, including jeans, jackets, sweaters, jewelry and other fashion accessories. Brands they carry include Autumn Cashmere, Seven Jeans and L&A.

“We target everyone from high school to young moms,” said Anzalone. “We try to find things that are comfortable that can go from day to night – things that really anyone can wear.”

Anzalone says they would love to open a second location full-time, but first their goal is to have some success in the area.

“We know our market and what works for Avalon,” said Anzalone, “so it’s a matter of finding what works in Chestnut Hill.”

The Avalon location is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and within that time span, the sisters work to promote their business through community events like fashion shows and social media.

Fashion has always been an interest to the sisters and after Lauren moved back home, they decided it was time to open their own store.

“If you have a vision and a dream, go for it,” said Anzalone. “It’s more than just a hobby, there is a lot behind the scenes than you wouldn’t think walking into the store.”

Olivia Evita, a visitor from New York City, stopped in the store and had nothing but rave reviews.

“It is fit for the modern woman – someone in their 20s like myself,” said Evita “for a quiet town, it’s nice to see the mix between modern and new.”

Anzalone says both locations have the same style of clothing and the same mindset – a combination of fashion and comfort. She says that they are excited to be in Chestnut Hill and hopes to make it a permanent thing.
