Ship docked at Navy Yard catches fire

A ship docked at the Navy Yard in South Philadelphia caught fire this morning, bringing crews from the Coast Guard and Philadelphia Fire Department.

Lt. Andrew Madjeska of the U.S. Coast Guard tells NewsWorks the 570-ft. long USS Shreveport had a small engine room fire. The Shreveport was decommissioned in 2007.

Action News reports the fire was under control very quickly. Madjeska confirms sealing off and controlling fires in ships built like the Shreveport is pretty easy.
