Sewer rates going up in Middletown

The New Castle County Council has approved a 20% increase in sewer rates for using facilities in Middletown.

The Middletown Transcript reports the average bill will go up from $3.61 to $4.36 per thousandth of a gallon. The County will pay Middletown $6,000-$10,000 a year. 

The County since 2009 has used Middletown’s waste water facilities for treatment of water from the C&D canal.
