SEPTA projects $38 million shortfall in 2013

SEPTA says it’s too soon to know if 2013 will bring a fare hike.

But it’s not too soon for officials to project a $38 million budget shortfall starting July 2013.
Metro reports that a depleting service stabilization fund and increased costs for wages and benefits have the transit authority preparing for a crunch.

Does that mean we’ll be paying more to ride? Anything can happen in the next year, and SEPTA has its fingers crossed that Harrisburg allocates some more money for transportation costs.
