Sen. Cory Booker uses book to trace story of political rise

New Jersey’s junior U.S. senator is adding another title to his extensive resume.

Cory Booker has authored his first book, “United.” It traces the Democrat’s political rise from a councilman in Newark to the city’s mayor to the U.S. Senate through stories about the people he learned from or was inspired by along the way.

The 46-year-old former Rhodes scholar attended Stanford University on a football scholarship and has 1.6 million Twitter followers. He uses lessons he outlines in the book to call for working together to solve problems including criminal justice reform and poverty.

Booker aims to get back into the national spotlight as he promotes his book, which will likely fan discussion about his political future.
