Sen. Carper gives Volt a test drive

With Delaware gas prices approaching $4 per gallon, what better time to try out a high gas mileage electric car?
That’s what Senator Tom Carper will do today at a dealership in Milford. Carper will give the Chevrolet Volt a spin this morning at the i.g. Burton dealership. Carper is the Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Clean Air. He was a major supporter of the effort to increase the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for cars. The Environmental Protection Agency says the Volt gets 93 miles per gallon under electric power, with 40 MPG on the highway under gas power.
