Second Delaware house fire claims another life

The Delaware Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a second fatal house fire that broke out in New Castle County.

The blaze was reported just after 1:30 p.m. on 300 block of Tamara Circle in the Harmony Hills neighborhood in Newark.

When fire crews arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the front of the house.

Charred human remains were found inside the home but a spokesman from the fire marshal’s office said the remains were so badly burned they could not determine the identity of the victim.  Our Newsworks photographer says reports on the scene was that the victim was an elderly woman.

The spokesman said he could not comment on whether or not another person was at the home.

Damage is estimated at $100,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This is the second fatal house fire in New Castle County within a 12 hour period.

Fire crews responded to a house fire in the Talleyville area around 4:30 this morning. A man was pulled from that home but pronounced dead at the scene.
