Seaside Park firefighters rescue swimmer late Sunday afternoon

A water rescue team from the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company saved an ocean swimmer late Sunday afternoon, a department official said.

Crews responded to the M Street beach around 4 p.m. on a report of a swimmer in distress, said Lt. Dennis Vincent.

Upon arrival, the team spotted a woman stranded about 250 yards off the shoreline, he said.

Chief Mike Tumolo directed the team to launch a rescue boat, which was operated by Vincent and also contained Todd Larsen and Wes Gorman, according to Vincent.
