The Seaside Heights governing body last night reversed an earlier decision to charge for beach access after Labor Day, a borough official said.

“We announced in May and again two weeks ago that to offset lifeguard costs for September, we would charge after Labor Day. Last night’s announcement is a reversal of prior announcements and planning,” Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz said.

Lifeguard will be on duty daily through September 13 and during the two following weekends, he said.

“Swim only when lifeguards are on duty and only in the areas designated for swimming!” Vaz added.
