The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus today will show its support for School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Arlene Ackerman. Led by PLBC chairman State Rep. Ronald Waters, D-91st District,  the group will publicly announce its support for Ackerman at noon at district headquarters.

The announcement is meant to demonstrate what the PLBC says is unfair treatment of Ackerman surrounding her recent reassignment of district work to an unauthorized party.

In a press release issued last night, Mayor Michael Nutter also stated his support for Ackerman, commending her “laudable efforts to increase the percentage of contracting opportunities awarded to disadvantaged businesses, including minority-owned businesses.”
