School District has not yet seen race-bias suit from teachers

The School District of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Federation of Teachers both say they haven’t yet seen the race-bias suit filed by four district teachers against a former principal of Thomas Mifflin Elementary.

The suit alleges Charles Ray III, who is black, created a hostile working environment in the East Falls school while he was there from July 2008 to 2009.

“These four teachers were systematically harassed over the entire academic year and intimidated and openly told they couldn’t teach African American students,” one of the lawyers representing the teachers told NewsWorks’ Megan Pinto. PFT President Jerry Jordan said similar problems have plagued the school over the last few years.
