Ryan Howard announces donation to School District athletic programs

Phillies player Ryan Howard made a little off-the-field announcement today, but it was still sports-related.

His organization, the Ryan Howard Family Foundation, will donate more than $1.1 million in ADIDAS sportswear to the School District of Philadelphia.

According to a release from Mayor Michael Nutter’s office, that money will provide 57 district high school programs with athletic shoes and apparel in their schools’ colors, and four district middle school programs with shoes.

Those awards will be disbursed next month. First, the foundation will provide turkeys, winter coats and school supplies to 500 Philadelphia families in need.
