Residents near Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst may hear “booms” and feel “rumbles” this weekend.
Marines will be conducting field artillery training at the Dix ranges through Sunday, according to a military press release.
The activity will occur between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.
“During this time, the joint base community and residents of the surrounding areas may experience ground shaking and considerable noise coming from the ranges. The noise may travel farther during overcast weather conditions,” the release said. “This training is essential and helps ensure the readiness of America’s fighting force. We work hard to minimize the impact training has on surrounding communities.”
The 42,000-acre installation spans more than 20 miles through portions of Burlington and Ocean counties.
