Frankford man arrested for Roxborough pizza shop burglary

A Frankford man has been arrested by the Philadelphia Police Department in connection to a 2012 burglary at a Roxborough pizza shop.

John Heiler, 33, of the 2100 block of Orthodox St., previously identified as a suspect in this burglary, was arrested on a prior incident in December and is charged with numerous offenses stemming from a September burglary at Zesto Pizza and Grill on the 6000 block of Ridge Ave., according to police.

On Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at 2:40 a.m., a hat-wearing Heiler was captured on surveillance video gaining entry to Zesto Pizza by forcing open a rear window. Once inside, he took the cash drawer containing an undermined amount of money and fled in an unknown direction.

At his preliminary hearing earlier in January, Heiler was charged with several offenses, including burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and receiving stolen property.

This was not the first time Heiler has run afoul of the law: according to court records, he’s pled guilty on several occasions in the past to burglary, criminal trespass, and drug-related charges, receiving both prison sentences and probation.

Heiler is currently in police custody on $6,700 bail and will be formally arraigned on Feb. 5.
