Rohm and Haas heir dies in Villanova home

    John Haas, heir and former chairman of Rohm and Haas, died Saturday at his home in Villanova.

    Haas worked as a process engineer at the company’s Bridesburg plant in the ’40s before serving as vice president and board chairman. He also served as chairman to the family’s William Penn Foundation and president of the Greater Philadelphia United Way.

    He’s survived by his wife, four children and 10 grandchildren.
