Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Yet another street/avenue mix up

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.

These are getting a little old. In his report yesterday about a double-shooting at Levick and Sylvester streets, Inquirer reporter Robert Moran wrote that the shooting took place on Sylvester Avenue.

This is the fifth instance – and the second offense from the Inquirer –  in which a news outlet made such a mistake. We get that breaking a story is important, but getting the street right is one of the simplest parts of reporting a story – and it’s easy enough for an editor to check.

It’s the little things that matter.
