Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Fox’s mistake does not a winner make

If you bought a lottery ticket recently at a Frankford food market, you may have won $225,000. At least, according to Fox29.

Don’t get your hopes up, Frankford shoppers, because the ticket was purchased on Frankford Avenue in Holmesburg.

This isn’t the first time a mainstream media outlet relied on laziness to make up for lack of Northeast knowledge; the Frankford/Frankford Avenue mixup is a common one. (See examples one, two and three).

Looks like Fox didn’t take the time to head to Krauszer’s Food Store, where the ticket was purchased, and check out the Holmesburg flags flying high right there on the Avenue.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
