Richie Sambora to perform at N.J. drug forum to raise awareness about opioid abuse

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Richie Sambora is expected to perform a new song at a drug forum in New Jersey.

The event is aimed at raising awareness about heroin and prescription painkiller abuse in Toms River, New Jersey.

Sambora has appeared at the beginning of a video on the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office website aimed at drug addiction. He also signed autographs at the end of a similar forum in December.

Sambora is on leave from Bon Jovi and has acknowledged previous substance abuse problems. He grew up in northern New Jersey and once owned a home near the Jersey shore.

Prosecutor Joseph Coronato says Sambora’s participation at the May 27 forum in Toms River will help the office reach a far greater audience.
