Revel’s first month: 13 million
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.— Atlantic City’s newest casino won about $13 million from gamblers in its first month of operation, ranking it near the bottom of the city’s gambling halls.
Revel CEO Kevin DeSanctis says the $2.4 billion resort began a preview period aimed more at testing out systems than generating revenue.
Problems with in-room TVs held down the number of rooms Revel was able to rent, and a component of its slot system that lets it market to individual players won’t be online until May 21.
Those two factors held down revenue during April. DeSanctis says between 1,100 and 1,400 hotel rooms will be available to rent as of Memorial Day weekend, when Beyonce plays four concerts there.
He says Revel will ramp up its revenues during June, July and August.
