One person was killed after a vehicle left the Garden State Parkway northbound express lanes at milepost 112.5 in Middletown and struck a tree in the center median at 5:44 a.m. Tuesday, a report on APP.com said.

The operator of the Acura TSX was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:01 a.m., according to the report. There were no other victims.

A State Police spokesman told the newspaper that the driver will not be identified until next of kin are notified.

While a dense fog advisory was in effect at the time of the accident and debris from a deer were found in the roadway, police continue to investigate the cause, the report said.
