Remains found in Vineland shed belong to missing person

Police have identified remains found in a southern New Jersey shed in May as that of a man reported missing more than four years ago.

The Courier-Post reports state police analyzed DNA from a bone sample collected from the Vineland shed and alerted police Monday it was a match to William Flores. Investigators said Flores took his own life by hanging himself.

Flores had been missing since Nov. 2010, when he was considered a suspect in a reported sexual assault by police.

A missing persons investigation was launched and eventually led police to Florida, but the trail went cold.

Flores’ remains were found by relatives cleaning out a West Avenue residence following a death in the family.

Police say the remains will be turned over to Flores’ family.
