Rats force cafe to close in Pa. state capital
A rodent infestation will keep the cafeteria closed in Pennsylvania’s state capitol building through the end of the year. Department of Agriculture health inspectors will take another look at the Capitol cafeteria, and if it passes that re-inspection, the facility will open on January 4th.

Department of Agriculture Health Inspectors will take another look at the Capitol cafeteria, and if it passes that re-inspection, the facility will open on January 4th.
That’s according to an Aramark spokeswoman.
Good government activist Eric Epstein, of Rock the Capital, is drawing symbolism from the rat infestation after a legislative year filled with stalemates and arrests.
Epstein: Well, we always knew there were rats at the Capitol. We just didn’t know they were in the cafeteria. But whatever they used to cure the rat infestation where we eat, hopefully they’ll extend that strategy to the legislative rats. Take care of them.
Epstein says he’s pushing for reform candidates to run for office.
The year ends without an agreement on legalized table games, which is a key part of the October budget agreement. Governor Rendell says he needs a final bill by January 8th, or he’ll be forced to lay off 1,000 state employees.
