Radio Times

Listen live now to Radio Times on 91FM, where host Marty Moss-Coane will talk Congress and travel.

In the first hour, David Herszenhorn of the New York Times and Jay Newton Small of Time Magazine will talk about what’s ahead for the 112th Congress. New speaker of the house John Boehner pledged to repeal the new health care law, reduce wasteful spending and cut taxes.  The House immediately approved a set of new rules to expedite their goals including a requirement that any new spending must be offset by spending cuts and another mandating that lawmakers will also have to go on record in voting to increase in the federal debt.  On the Senate side there was a debate on filibuster rules and a plea by Senate leader Harry Reid for Republicans to work cooperatively with Democrats as they debate deficit reduction, the war in Afghanistan, health-care reform and taxes.

Then at 11, we’ll talk travel. Guest Lonely Planet writer and editor, Don George, returns to Radio Times to discuss his travels and give destination recommendations. We’ll also hear what out-of-the-way destinations Jim Sano recommends. He’s the president of Geographic Expeditions, an adventure travel company that guides and counsels travelers based in San Francisco.
