“Christmas” cancelled

No, the Grinch hasn’t come to Philadelphia, but his spirit is in the air.  Here’s the latest from Tom MacDonald:

The word Christmas has been removed from the marquee of the Philadelphia Christmas Village.  The word was there when the temporary setup of shops was installed and opened on Thanksgiving, but mysteriously disappeared, apparently over complaints that the word was used in association with a city function.

There are still signs with the word Christmas in some locations, and WHYY has made an inquiry to the Mayor’s Press Office to explain the removal of the word from the sign.
