Princeton will build 27-acre solar field

Princeton University has announced plans to build a solar collector field on 27 acres of university property. The 16,500-panel installation would be the single larges in the nation at a college or university.

The Times of Trenton reports the area, buffered from sight by landscaping, will able to cover 5 to 20 percent of the university’s annual energy costs, depending on the intensity of the sun.

    Construction should begin in 2012.
