Preliminary hearing set for suspect in 13-year-old rape case

Ronald Ellis Mapp is back in Chester County and awaiting his preliminary hearing for a 13-year-old rape case.

Mapp is believed to be the man who raped a 27-year-old Phoenixville woman in 1998. Mapp was found and charged through a DNA profile match. He’d been serving time in a Florida prison but was transferred back to Pennsylvania this week.

The Mercury reports Mapp is being held on $500,000 bail and has a Jan. 5 preliminary hearing.
