Power slowly coming back on

Power is returning for thousands of Delaware residents who were put in the dark by Wednesday’s heavy snow.

After a spike in power outages Wednesday that totaled more than 30,000 Delmarva Power customers, work crews have made a lot of progress.  As of 10:30 AM Thursday, just 5,200 customers in New Castle County were still in the dark.  Most of the outages are near Townsend, and near Hockessin towards the Delaware/Pennsylvania border.

Southern Delaware, which took the brunt of last weekend’s storm, fared much better as far as power outages are concerned in the midweek storm.  Thursday morning, there were only a handful of isolated outages in Kent and Sussex.
