Pottstown owed $700,000 in back taxes from landlords

As of Aug. 17, Pottstown Plating Works owes the borough more than $57,000 in taxes. Gale Harry owes $52.

Both are on a six-page list of people who make up $700,000 in delinquent taxes.

The borough has begun sending notices of utility shut-offs, as the Mercury reports, and water shut-offs could start after Labor Day.

Looks like Philadelphia isn’t the only place having trouble collecting what it’s owed. Many of the names on Pottstown’s list are repeat offenders. Some catch up on payments when they receive a notice, but fall behind again.
