Post Office closing locations in North and Northeast Philadelphia

Snail mail just got slower, people. Three Philadelphia post offices are closing in April.

As the Inquirer reports, two locations in the Northeast and one in North Philly will shut down April 22 following a study conducted last year that evaluated office usage and efficiency.

The Girard Avenue Station at 905 N. Broad St., Adams Avenue Station at 821 Adams Ave., and Wissinoming Station at 5916 Torresdale Ave. will be shuttered for good come spring.

Residents in those neighborhoods are advised to use the following offices:

Fairmount Station, 1939 Fairmount Ave. (.7 mile away from Girard)

Frankford Station, 4410 Paul St. (1.2 miles away from Adams)

Tacony Station, 4620 Longshore Ave. (1.1 miles from Wissinoming)

You’ll now officially be able to tell your grandkids you walked a mile to the post office in the snow. Of course, they won’t know what a post office is.
