Police website becomes most common source for Philly crime tips

Whether the push to change Philadelphia’s stop-snitching culture is working can be (and has been) argued both ways.

But numbers don’t lie and they show the city’s police department website has become the most common source of crime tips.
Our partners at Technically Philly report the department gets about 500 anonymous tips a month through its website. Phone tips fall slightly short of that, and the numbers are even lower for the relatively new text-a-tip and iWatch crime tip app submission options.

The stats don’t account for the quality of the tips, but the next step is to determine which tips lead to arrests and by which technology they’re submitted.
