Police shoot traffic-jamming turkey in Ocean County

It was a tragic end for a turkey this week when the bird’s poor sense of direction led to its early demise. Police in New Jersey’s Stafford Township shot the turkey after it caused a traffic mess.

Though the bird had been traveling the township for months, the Associated Press reports, it made its way onto busy Route 72 Wednesday, causing an accident.

A driver’s quick stop to spare the bird resulted in an accident, and ultimately, caused officers to shoot the turkey.
