Police seek suspects in assault and attempted robbery near Stenton Park

Philadelphia Police released surveillance footage on Tuesday seeking suspects in an aggravated assault and attempted robbery near Stenton Park.

At 6:15 p.m. Friday, a 52-year-old man was on the 4500 block of N. 19th St. when four unknown males approached and demanded his money. When the victim refused, they began to violently kick and punch him.

The victim ran into the nearby Mora’s Mini Market, but the offenders followed him into the store and continued to beat him, causing serious injuries to the victim’s head and torso.

When police arrived, Matthew Walden, 27, from the 4500 block of N. Uber St., was identified as one of the suspects and arrested.

Police are seeking three additional suspects — all black males in their early to mid-twenties, about 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-9 tall — who fled in an unknown direction.

One had a mustache and short hair, and was wearing a navy blue hooded windbreaker, blue jeans and white/blue running sneakers.

Another had goatee and was wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt, tan pants and a dark colored baseball hat with a spider design.

The third unknown suspect had corn rows and was wearing a black “T” shirt with white writing on the front and back and dark running pants with vertical white stripes.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call (215) 686-TIPS, text a tip to 773847 (PPD TIP), send a tip via the department’s website or contact the Northwest Detective Division at (215) 686-3353/54.
