Police: Man stabbed in Jackson Wednesday afternoon

    A man was stabbed in Jackson Wednesday afternoon, police said.

    Police responded to a Second Street residence at 2:21 p.m. after receiving a report of a 53-year-old man stabbed, said Jackson Police Department spokesman Lt. Steven Laskiewicz. 

    The residence is located within the Southwind Mobile Home Park off East Veterans Highway. 

    After police officers secured the scene, the man, who police have not identified, was treated by Quality First Aid, Whitesville Fire Department, and paramedics, according to Laskiewicz.

    The man was transported to an area hospital in an ambulance after initially sent to a landing zone for aeromedical transport, Laskiewicz said.

    The investigation by detectives of the Jackson Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s CIU Unit is active and ongoing.

    “There is no further information available for release at this time but it does not appear that there is any danger to the general public,” Laskiewicz said.
